IPL 2026: CSK vs. LSG prediction, lineups, pitch report and betting tips as Chepauk awaits Rishabh Pant

The IPL 2026 returns to the hallowed turf of Chepauk for its penultimate appearance this season. Chennai Super Kings, once written off after a disastrous start, have roared back into contention with three wins in their last four outings, including a sensational season double over their arch-rivals, Mumbai Indians.

Their recent victories have been mirror images of tactical nuance. They squeezed both Mumbai and Delhi under the 160-run mark with disciplined, suffocating bowling before clinical finishes from Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson made the chases look academic.

The ₹14-crore man, Kartik Sharma, has finally justified his price tag by staying till the end in both the chases and ably helping the senior folks.

On the other side, Lucknow Super Giants arrive fresh from pulling off the season’s biggest heist by humbling RCB at the Ekana, proving they still possess the arsenal to strike. However, the clock is ticking; despite their recent heroics, LSG remains on the pole position of becoming the first team to be eliminated this year.

Chennai Super Kings vs. Lucknow Super Giants Prediction: Who Will Win?

Both sides come into this game off the back of wins, but the stakes could not be more different. For CSK, this is a critical stepping stone toward the playoffs. For LSG, it is a salvage operation, a last ditch effort to avoid finishing at the bottom of the table.

LSG’s biggest problem this campaign has been themselves. The team management has been remarkably trigger happy, rotating players freely and tinkering with the batting lineup far too often. Aiden Markram, who began the season as an opener, now finds himself buried in the middle order.

CSK will be looking to exploit exactly that. Akeal Hosein is their primary weapon against right handers and he is expected to spearhead the attack alongside Anshul Kamboj and Noor Ahmed.

LSG, to their credit, have actually been one of the better powerplay bowling sides this IPL, with Mohammad Shami and Prince Yadav leading that charge effectively.

The area where they need improvement is their spin bowling, which has been underwhelming. On a Sunday afternoon at Chepauk, where the pitch tends to offer assistance to spinners as the game wears on, getting more from their slow bowlers could be the decisive factor.

A tight contest between bat and ball is on the cards, but we expect CSK to ultimately get the job done and send LSG home empty handed.
