UGC NET registration extended: Check new date, time, steps to apply and more

The National Testing Agency has extended the last date to apply for the UGC NET June 2026 examination following multiple requests from candidates seeking more time to complete the registration process.

In a public notice issued on May 20, the agency said the deadline was extended after receiving “various representations from candidates.” Aspirants will now get an additional three days to submit their online application forms.

The UGC NET is conducted for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), eligibility for Assistant Professor appointments, admission to PhD programmes, and PhD-only courses in universities and colleges across India.

As per the revised schedule, candidates can now submit their online application forms till May 23, 2026, up to 10 am. Earlier, the deadline was May 20, 2026.

The application fee payment window has also been extended till May 23, 2026, up to 11:50 pm.

NTA has additionally revised the application correction schedule. The correction window will now remain open from May 25 to May 27, 2026, instead of the earlier May 22 to May 24 timeline.

UGC NET June 2026 revised schedule

Candidates have been advised to complete the registration process well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues and heavy website traffic. The agency has also urged applicants to regularly visit the official portal for updates regarding examination dates, admit cards, and exam city intimation slips.

Steps to apply for UGC NET June 2026

• Visit the official UGC NET website.
• Click on the “UGC NET June 2026 Registration” link.
• Complete the registration process using details such as name, mobile number, and email ID.
• Log in with the generated application number and password.
• Fill in personal, academic, and examination details carefully.
• Upload scanned copies of the required documents, including photograph and signature, in the prescribed format.
• Pay the application fee through the available online payment modes.
• Review all details carefully before final submission.
• Submit the form and download the confirmation page for future reference.

Candidates are advised to keep checking the official portal for further updates related to admit cards, examination dates, and city intimation slips.
