Latest Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada OTT releases: Peddi to Mollywood Times, new movies and shows on Netflix, JioHotstar, Prime Video

The first week of July is bringing plenty of fresh entertainment for regional cinema fans. Whether you’re in the mood for a feel-good comedy, a gripping crime drama, an emotional family story or a psychological thriller, this week’s OTT lineup has something for every kind of viewer. Several big theatrical hits are also making their digital debut, while a few exciting originals are set to arrive across Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, ZEE5 and ETVWin. Here’s a look at the South Indian movies you can add to your watchlist this week.

Peddi – Netflix
One of the biggest OTT releases is Peddi, which is expected to begin streaming on Netflix from July 2 or next week. The makers are yet to confirm the date. Headlined by Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, the film enjoyed a successful theatrical run, reportedly crossing Rs 300 crore worldwide.

The story follows a talented cricketer who plays for whichever team pays him the most. However, his life changes after he falls in love with Achiyamma, the village sarpanch’s daughter. Soon, he finds himself drawn into a long-standing fight to secure a railway station for the village. Bringing sports, romance and social drama together, Peddi is directed by Buchi Babu Sana and features music by A.R. Rahman.

Super Subbu – Netflix
Streaming on Netflix from July 2, Super Subbu stars Sundeep Kishan, Mithila Palkar, Brahmanandam, Murali Sharma, Maanasa Choudhary and Get Up Srinu. The comedy-drama is directed by Mallik Ram.

The film revolves around Subramanyam “Subbu” Chillukuri Rao, a sincere young man who becomes a public awareness officer in the fictional village of Maakipur. His mission to educate the villagers quickly turns into a series of hilarious misunderstandings. As chaos unfolds, Subbu must find a balance between his ideals, his career and his personal relationships.

Isakapatnam – Prime Video
Isakapatnam premieres on Prime Video on July 2. The film stars Samuthirakani, Aishwarya Rajesh and Sunil, and marks the directorial debut of editor-turned-filmmaker Garry BH.

Set in a fictional port town during the 1990s, the story follows Naidu, a man who rises from being an outsider to becoming a powerful figure through crime, politics and business. As his empire expands, his daughter Bharathi begins questioning the cost of his success, while a determined young police officer looks for an opportunity to bring him down.

Mollywood Times – JioHotstar/Simply South
Mollywood Times begins streaming on JioHotstar and Simply South on July 3. Directed by Abhinav Sunder Nayak, the psychological dark comedy stars Naslen, Sharaf U Dheen, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Sreejith Shine, Sangeeth Prathap and Gopika Ramesh.

The film follows Vineeth Madhavan, an ambitious young filmmaker who dreams of becoming Malayalam cinema’s greatest horror director. Inspired by acclaimed filmmakers, he moves from making short films to directing his first feature. Along the way, he faces creative struggles, industry politics and personal setbacks that test both his passion and determination.

Muthassi – ZEE5
Muthassi arrives on ZEE5 on July 3 with a slow-burning supernatural mystery that focuses more on atmosphere than jump scares.

Set in a Tulu-speaking village on the Kerala-Karnataka border, the story centres on Leela, who notices disturbing changes in her young son after her husband returns to his ancestral home. As she investigates the family’s past, long-buried secrets slowly begin to surface, turning the mystery into an emotional family drama with supernatural elements.

Gurthukosthunnayi – ETVWin
Streaming on ETVWin from July 3, Gurthukosthunnayi stars Viraj Ashwin, Yashashree Rao, Rohini Hattangadi, Goparaju Ramana and Viva Raghava. The slice-of-life drama is directed by Winod Gali.
