Michigan State Police have launched an investigation into the tragic discovery of a deceased newborn baby in a porta-potty at Electric Forest, a four-day electronic dance music festival in Rothbury, over the weekend.
As local news outlet WZZM reports, the body was discovered by an employee of the restroom vending company during routine maintenance of the festival’s camping area yesterday morning (June 28). In a call for public assistance in the case, police described the infant as “neonate,” meaning the child was four weeks old or less.
“If you were in the area and observed anything unusual, or if you have information that you believe may be relevant, we encourage you to come forward,” the authorities wrote in a social media post, urging anyone with information to reach out here. “We appreciate the public’s cooperation and ask that people avoid speculation on social media out of respect for the investigation and those affected.”
“Forest Family, it causes us so much pain to have to share this difficult news with you,” festival organizers added, sharing the call for assistance. “HQ is heartbroken and knows that our Forest Family is as well.”
