According to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer, the Spurs can use their full $15 million non-taxpayer mid-level exception on a forward. The players linked to San Antonio include Sandro Mamukelashvili, Tobias Harris, Rui Hachimura, Dean Wade, and John Collins. This exception will allow the Spurs to bolster the front-court without sacrificing future draft picks.

Spurs targeting front court versatility
At the 2026 NBA draft, the Spurs addressed their center depth behind Victor Wembanyama. Now, they appear to go for a power forward.
All the players mentioned above in the Spurs’ free agency wishlist bring different types of skillsets.
Hachimura is an efficient and capable shooter from the floor. Collins rebounds well and can score from outside. Wade has high defensive upside with a good three-point range. Mamukelashvili is 6-foot-9 and has generated quite the buzz.
However, the Spurs won’t be alone in making a bid for these forwards. Mamukelashvili could bag an offer in excess of $10 million, with the Los Angeles Lakers reported to be interested. Hachimura is linked to the Brooklyn Nets.
